1. Prime Minister Scott Morrison is close to striking a preference deal with Clive Palmer according to The Australian, which reported that the deal would "all but guarantee" Palmer a seat in the Senate.

2. Ahead of Anzac Day tomorrow, the Coalition has committed $63 million in funding for veterans' wellbeing centres, employment assistance programs and other initiatives.

3. Bill Shorten has announced a conversion plan for the country's 2.6 million casual workers that could allow them to request to be made permanent after 12 months of regular work for the same company.

4. As reporting season continues in the US, both the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq reached record highs overnight. The S&P rose 0.88% to close at 2,933.68, while the Nasdaq gained 1.32% to 8,120.82. The Dow Jones lifted 0.55% to 26,656.39, and is 1.1% from its all time high according to CNBC.

5. British Prime Minister Theresa May is reportedly considering giving MPs a vote on legislation next week to ratify her Brexit deal.
