2. European Union leaders are currently discussing a potential delay for Brexit in Brussels. The EU could reportedly offer an extension until May 7 or May 22 if British MPs vote in favour of Theresa May's deal next week. 

3. Scott Morrison will today announce a new fast rail link between Melbourne and Geelong that is expected to cut the travel time in half to 32 minutes. The federal government will pledge $2 billion towards the project, and the Victorian state government would need to match the funding

4. A 3.68% gain in Apple shares overnight helped to push the Dow Jones 0.84% higher to 25,962.51. The S&P 500 rose 1.09% to 2,854.88 points and the Nasdaq lifted 1.42% to 7,838.96.

5. Cyclone Zidai in southern Africa has left 242 people dead in Mozambique and 139 dead in Zimbabwe, with approximately 15,000 people still needing to be rescued.
