1. $10.9 billion in funds was moved from retail superannuation funds to industry funds last year according to figures from the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority, up from $3.5 billion in 2017.

2. Following yesterday's announcement by Scott Morrison of $1.38 billion in funding for an expansion of the Snowy Hydro scheme, the PM will head to Tasmania today and will consider underwriting a new hydro-electricity project in the north-west of the state.

3. US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell has told a Senate committee that, while the US economy is strong and the outlook is favourable, "over the past few months we have seen some crosscurrents and conflicting signals".

4. The Dow Jones fell 0.13% overnight, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq had minor losses after both dropped down around 0.07%.

5. Ita Buttrose has been chosen as the next chair of the ABC by Scott Morrison's cabinet according to a report by The Australian, with an announcement expected later this week.
