1. Former NSW opposition leader Luke Foley is planning to sue for defamation after allegations of sexual harrassment of ABC reporter Ashleigh Raper in 2016 surfaced. Deputy leader Michael Daley is expected to replaced Foley.

2. Malcolm Turnbull has said he is "not miserable or bitter or resentful at all" about his time in politics on Q&A last night. Turnbull deflected a question about why he is no longer prime minister and said that "people like Peter Dutton and Tony Abbott and Greg Hunt and Mathias Cormann" are who should be asked that question.

3. A former US marine who served in Afghanistan, Ian David Long, has been named as the gunman who shot and killed 12 people at the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, California, before turning the gun on himself.

4. The S&P 500 closed 0.25% lower and the Nasdaq 0.5% lower after the Fed announced its decision to keep interest rates at the current range of 2-2.25%. Meanwhile the Dow Jones closed up about 0.04% to maintain a four-day streak.

5. A Gold Coast man has been named as the sole winner of the $60 million jackpot Powerball on Thursday night, telling lottery officials "Is this a joke? You've got to be kidding me surely".
