1. Slater & Gordon has announced it is seeking expressions of interest to launch a class action against the big banks in the wake of the banking royal commission. Colonial First State, owned by the Commonwealth Bank, as well as AMP will be the first targets of the firm's "Get Your Super Back" campaign.

2. North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has requested a second meeting with US President Donald Trump in a new letter. The White House is "already in the process of coordinating" a meeting between the two leaders, who first met in Singapore in June.

3.  Ahead of the launch of the next iPhone later this week, Apple has warned that proposed tariffs in the trade war between the US and China would "cover a wide range" of the company's products and would require some prices to be increased. Apple shares fell as much as 2% on Monday, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were both up slightly, breaking a four-day losing streak.

4. Two Australian firefighters were chased and shot at by hunters in the US state of Washington according to a Fairfax report. The incident, which happened last month, saw two men charged. Almost 80 firefighters from Australia have been working in the US since July.
